Box Office and Public Relations Officer

We are now hiring a Box Office and Public Relations Officer. The successful candidate is up to 30 years of age and will be responsible for box office ticket operations, providing excellent customer service, taking reservations, helping community groups attend our show, and assist with projects in the office. Reporting to the General Manager, they will work at Odyssey’s office at Arts Court, at 2 Daly Avenue in downtown Ottawa.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Manage advanced ticket reservations and sales (by telephone or at the Office);
  • Provide excellent customer service, answer questions and help people purchase tickets;
  • Process ticketing and payments and accurately tracking and reporting results;
  • Complete daily box office reports to be submitted to the General Manager;
  • Assist in promoting our Community Outreach program;
  • Promote and help manage Odyssey’s Silent Auction;
  • Contact previous audience members;
  • Update information about the performance with online event sites;
  • Issue tax receipts and acknowledgements for donations;
  • Maintain databases and update our mailing and donor lists; and
  • Assist with administrative and promotional duties as required.

Theatre Technician:

We are hiring a Theatre Technician for our summer production. 

As Technician, you will work closely with the technical Director and Stage manager as a key member of our production team and be responsible to assist with:

  • Technical set-up and strike;
  • Attending technical and dress rehearsals;
  • Operating the lighting and/or sound board for evening performances;
  • Maintaining technical equipment;
  • Troubleshooting and fixing problems if they arise; and
  • Assisting with the strike at the end of the run.

Working safely at heights training is required before beginning work.  A valid driver’s license is required.  Access to a vehicle is an asset.  First aid training is an asset.

Production Assistant: 

We are hiring a Production Assistant for our summer production this year! 

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic person who has a passion for the arts, production experience and who is committed to contributing to the success of our 2023 season. Come join a dynamic and collaborative team, and spend the summer with Ottawa’s leading mask and movement theatre company. 

During the rehearsal period, the Production Assistant works with the Stage Manager to help facilitate the rehearsal process and with the Production Manager to assist with technical and production needs. During the run, you will be running our production team and back stage area.  The PA will also oversee the activities of our production Youth Apprentices.

Stage Manager:

Submissions are accepted year-round from stage managers interested in working with Odyssey. We annually contract multiple Stage Managers for script workshops, readings, and the Theatre Under the Stars summer production. The latter is a 10-week contract, from mid-June to late August. Applicants should submit a C.V., a covering letter, and a minimum of three professional references to Artistic Director Laurie Steven. Previous experience working in outdoor theatre is considered an asset.

All submissions will be reviewed. Candidates being considered for an upcoming season will be contacted for interviews between August and November. All candidates of interest will be kept on file and considered for future productions.

A number of positions are available each season to both students and professionals, including: set builders; wardrobe managers; technicians; production assistants; props managers and builders; and security personnel.
