General Auditions 2027

Odyssey Theatre is now accepting submissions for our 2027 General Auditions.

As Odyssey begins an exciting new chapter under our new Artistic Director, Nicholas Koy Santillo, we’re looking to meet performers interested in working with us during our 2027 season and beyond.

Our 2027 activities include our annual Theatre Under the Stars production in Strathcona Park, new play development workshops in the spring and late fall, and other potential productions and artistic projects.

What We’re Looking For

Odyssey’s work is rooted in physical theatre, masks, movement and imaginative approaches to storytelling. We are interested in meeting performers from a wide range of theatrical and performance backgrounds. Formal training or education in theatre or another style of performance is considered an asset, but is not a requirement. Performers without formal training are very welcome to submit. We are particularly interested in hearing from artists with skills or experience in areas including:

• Physical performance: gymnastics, acrobatics, clown, mime, mask performance, dance, stage combat, skateboarding, sports and other movement-based practices.
• Performance and storytelling: recitation, verse, rap, poetry, singing, audience interaction, improvisation, comedy and outdoor performance.
• Additional disciplines: puppetry, musical instruments and other multidisciplinary performance skills.

You do not need to have experience in all, or even several, of these areas. We encourage you to tell us about the particular skills, training and performance practices you bring to your work.

Practical Information

Performers being considered for our summer Theatre Under the Stars production must be available to work locally in Ottawa during the production period, generally mid-June through early August, and should be comfortable rehearsing and performing outdoors in a variety of summer conditions.

Odyssey also undertakes new play development and other artistic projects at different points throughout the year, including workshops in the spring and late fall. Availability requirements will vary by project. A copy of Odyssey Theatre’s weather policy for our outdoor summer production will be available at auditions.

Who Can Submit

Odyssey Theatre welcomes submissions from both Equity and non-Equity performers. Odyssey Theatre is a member of PACT, and professional performance engagements through Odyssey are contracted under the applicable Canadian Actors’ Equity Association agreements. We encourage submissions from storytellers, actors and performance artists of all backgrounds, regardless of culture, race, colour, gender, national origin, age, religion, creed, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

How to Submit

Please submit your CV and headshot by: Friday, October 9, 2026

Email your materials to office@odysseytheatre.ca and address your submission to our Artistic Director and General Manager. Please use your submission to highlight any relevant training, performance experience or special skills you would like us to know about, particularly those related to physical performance, movement, storytelling, music or multidisciplinary performance. Only performers selected for an audition will be contacted with an invitation and further details.

Audition Dates

Ottawa: October 14–17, 2026
Toronto: October 21–24, 2026
Montreal: Auditions will take place in the new year.

Montreal-based performers are encouraged to submit by the October 9 deadline and may be invited to audition in Ottawa. Additional information about Montreal auditions will be announced at a later date. Auditions are by invitation only following a review of submissions. Specific audition requirements, location information and preparation instructions will be provided to performers when they receive their audition invitation.
