Why Support Odyssey Theatre?
Because Odyssey produces innovative, exciting and unique theatre in Canada. It also supports local and Canadian artists, the development of new plays and outreach for youth in our community.

Like all non-profit arts groups, Odyssey relies on generous community support to continue offering its programs. If you enjoy and value live theatre, and the contribution a vibrant arts scene makes to urban living, then consider becoming a Friend of Odyssey or a corporate sponsor.

Each year, Odyssey relies on the support of people like you. Ticket prices cover only a small portion of the cost of creating and mounting our unique productions. Quite simply, Odyssey can’t exist without your help.

In return for a donation, you will receive our bi-annual newsletter Behind the Mask, which will keep you up to date on our developing work. You will also be invited to meet the artists who create it and will receive a tax receipt for the full allowable amount of your gift, acknowledgement in our programs and our front of house display, and a variety of other benefits, depending on the level of support.

Odyssey devotes 80% of its revenue to artistic activities, so you can be confident that your contribution will go directly to the artists who are creating our upcoming projects. We commit to applying your tax-deductible donation to production of new work and to acknowledging your contribution in every way possible. Did you know that a $500 donation pays for a one-day workshop in mask or other aspect of our art form?

Supports one original handcrafted mask.

Supports one exotic costume.

To thank you for your generous support, Friends of Odyssey are invited to an annual reception with the Artistic Director and members of the Company at Strathcona Park during our summer show. Light refreshments are served as the Artistic Director shares an exciting artistic report and you have a chance to meet our artists and put yourself inside the creative process.

After the reception, we invite you to attend the performance of our summer show. As a Friend of Odyssey, that particular evening, you will have the opportunity to choose your seating before the other audience members and purchase 2 for 1 tickets.

Odyssey Audiences

Odyssey attracts close to 5,000 people each summer and as many as 14,000 throughout the year. Over 120,000 people have seen our summer shows since 1985.

Our audiences have grown 400% since the company’s inception.
78% of our audiences are National Capital residents, while 22% are visitors from across North America.
Odyssey audiences are 60% female, 40% male; a majority between 30 – 60 years of age, well educated with higher than average incomes.

Odyssey Theatre receives its funding from the Canada Council, the Ontario Arts Council and the City of Ottawa. It is also financially supported by a wide range of individuals, foundations and private companies and earns the remainder of its income from the box office, fundraising events and workshop fees.
