M. Orgon Character Sketch

characterA man of high standing. Orgon is a wealthy old widower keen on seeing his daughter Silvia married to an equally wealthy young man, assuming that this will ensure happiness for her. His love for his daughter is tempered with an old fashioned sensibility of paternal dominance. Yet, his staunch traditionalism conceals a romantic’s heart.

Chris Ralph:

I love the fact that he is the only character in the play that doesn’t fit a traditional commedia stock character. He is very down to earth and has a huge heart and loves his daughter so much.

Mario Character Sketch

characterSilvia’s brother is a flamboyant young dandy who likes a good time. Quick with a quip or a practical joke, he none the less loves his sister and wants only the best for her, although his love for mischief can sometimes cause more harm than good.

Zachary Counsil:

What I like about Mario is his sense of freedom. He’s not tied down, not overwhelmed by any situation, he’s like rubber. He’s also slick, charming and he knows it; he just wants to have fun. Mario enjoys mischief, which is a pleasure to play for an actor.

Lisette Character Sketch

character iconSilvia’s maid and best friend. Feisty, fun loving and up for anything, especially if there is a man involved. Lisette and Silvia share a, intense, sister-like relationship, but find their bond strongly tested once the Game starts going.

Jodie Stevens:

What I like most about Lisette is that she operates from her five senses, which is cool. She has absolutely no edit button. What she says is what she thinks and she always sees the comedy in life. Lisette loves to laugh, these types of characters are always fun to play.

Arlequino Character Sketch

character

Dorante’s servant. While devoted to Dorante and essentially good natured, Arlequin is at heart a quick-thinking, skirt-chasing, double talking misfit. He thinks he is doing a good job, but is more interested in getting into trouble and procuring  free food and drink.

Evan Dowling:

Because it’s a happy world, no matter where he goes, even when things are unfair, he tends to forget about it in a couple minutes. He’s got a one-track mind, much like myself. Even when he’s trying to multitask, he’s only on one track. Yeah, it’s a wonderful world.

Dorante Character Sketch

characterA wealthy young man from afar. Dashing, handsome and elegant. He also possesses a romantic, poetic soul which gives rise to rich dialogue at the slightest chance, which makes his disguise most uncomfortable at times.

Daniel Brière:

He is impulsive yet restrained, calculated yet carefree. He holds his head in the clouds and keeps his feet on the ground. He is entirely brazen, but often at a loss for words. He has no fear, respects women, and bathes nightly.

Silvia Character Sketch

characterA young lady of society. Beautiful, graceful, independent and modern – with a dash of shyness mixed in. Secretly, she desperately seeks love and an honest companion in her life, but is justifiably wary of the duplicitous nature of some of the men she has observed and been courted by.

Stephanie Izsak:

What does Silvia mean to me? Well I love her, her drive, her desire for independence, especially considering where and when we’re setting the show. It was a very exciting time in Paris, and she’s very much a woman of that time. In the sense that things were really changing, it was before any of the World Wars and it was a time of real optimism. I think she’s a woman I relate to, because she’s a woman who believes she can have anything she wants. She’s willing to fight for it and I think that that’s a wonderful heart to have. That’s what I connect to really strongly – she’s really incredibly passionate and sometimes it works against her- but- that’s why I  like her and that’s how she’s similar to me. She’s kind of got this faith in herself that even if  it is shaken to the core, she’s still willing to be driven to achieve her own goals.
