Join Odyssey Theatre’s team this summer as we return to live performance and celebrate our 37th season as Ottawa’s premier professional open-air theatre. We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic people from diverse backgrounds with a passion for the arts who want to contribute to the success of our 2023 season. Work with a dynamic and collaborative team, gain experience with a professional arts organization, and spend the summer with Ottawa’s leading mask and movement Theatre!

Our annual Theatre Under the Stars in Ottawa’s beautiful Strathcona Park features an original adaptation of Molière’s comic masterpiece, The Miser. The Miser is a wickedly clever satire about self-interest, greed and corruption in a modern consumer driven world. Rehearsals begin June 26, the production opens July 27 and runs until August 20.

We are hiring a Marketing Assistant. The successful candidate is up to 30 years of age, and will work with the General Manager to create effective digital marketing and social media campaigns to promote our production of The Miser, our community outreach programs and special events. This position can work remotely and at our office at Arts Court, 2 Daly Avenue in downtown Ottawa.

Dates: June 12th – August 4th, 2023 Duration: 35 hours per week
Salary: $560.00/week Location: Remote + Arts Court (2 Daly Ave.)

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Planning and implementing marketing initiatives to promote our summer season;
  • Developing written and visual digital creative materials (including video);
  • Updating our web sites and social media;
  • Preparing and monitoring digital ads;
  • Creating blogs, interviews, and taking photos and videos;
  • Overseeing distribution of printed marketing materials;
  • Contacting community groups and scheduling bookings for events;
  • Providing a training workshop in Social and Digital Media for youth; and
  • Other administrative duties as needed.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Taken courses in Marketing, Communications, Media/Public Relations or similar;
  • Experience with video editing;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Excellent telephone skills and dealing with community groups and the public;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal);
  • Excellent computer skills (Mac, Microsoft Suite, Canva, WordPress, etc.);
  • Experience with Social Media platforms;
  • Ability to show initiative;
  • Ability to work independently.
