Join Odyssey Theatre for its 36thth (online) season as Ottawa’s premier professional summer theatre as a Communications and Social Media Assistant.    

We are looking for a dedicated, creative and enthusiastic person with a passion for the arts who wants to help promote our 2021 online theatre season. You will join a creative and collaborative team and gain experience with an award-winning professional theatre.

Join Ottawa’s award-winning mask and movement-based theatre. We blend classic and contemporary art forms and incorporate diverse cultures and traditions from around the world. Due to the pandemic, we are producing A Virtual Odyssey, a rich online theatre series of workshops, readings, podcasts and community arts events.

We are now hiring a Communications and Social Media Assistant. The successful candidate is between the ages of 18-30 and will be responsible for developing and launching an innovative and exciting digital marketing and social media campaigns to promote our virtual programming,  expand our online presence across multiple platforms, an increase awareness of Odyssey Theatre. The successful candidate will be able to work remotely online for the present time.

Dates:  Immediately – to be negotiated
Duration: 8 weeks
Salary: $525/week (35 hours/wk)

(part-time also possible)

Location:  Ottawa (working remotely)

The successful candidate will have responsibility for the following tasks:

  • Planning, creating and implementing marketing campaigns to promote our online productions;
  • Developing written and visual creative materials (including video) for social media;
  • Preparing and monitoring online ads;
  • Creating blogs, interviews, and taking photos and videos to promote our programs;
  • Conducting marketing research and analytics;
  • Contacting community groups to create marketing partnerships;
  • Other related duties as needed.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Experience or courses in Theatre, Marketing, Communications, or similar;
  • Experience with video and video editing;
  • Graphic design experience;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal);
  • Excellent computer skills (Mac, Microsoft Office, Photoshop);
  • Excellent knowledge of Word Press, social media and other digital platforms;
  • Ability to show initiative and to work independently; and
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
